Podium Finishers Win Consolation Prizes in Race for the 2010 Speed51.com / ARBodies.com Late Model Most Popular Driver
Overwhelming Fan Response Leads to Extra Incentives
51 Sports PR Report

There are several reasons why Speed51.com and ARBodies.com teamed up to start a Late Model Most Popular Driver award competition.  It was a chance to give fans a chance to have their say and settle some bragging rights by voting online at Speed51.com for their favorite driver.  It was also a way to encourage some good, old-fashioned competition among racers too - by giving them a chance to mobilize their fans and get them involved.

Most of all though, the award was set up as a way to reward the racers for their efforts in connecting with the short track racing fans of America.  The winner of the 2010 competition, who was recently announced as PASS South driver Trey Mitchell, will receive an ABC “Package A” kit from ARBodies.com after winning the award thanks to the votes of the fans.

“With the economy like it is we wanted to come up with something to give something back to Late Model racers across the country,” said Jerry Criswell of ARBodies.com.  “We worked with Bob Dillner and Speed51.com a few years ago looking for something to help the racers in the off season and Bob came up with this Most Popular driver program and it has been just the ticket.  The success has been amazing.”

So Mitchell wins and is rewarded for his efforts with a sleek new body.  That's a positive story in itself.  But wait….there's more.

This year, there were nearly 40,000 votes cast in the ARBodies.com MPD competition.  The plan was that the winner would take all once the votes were counted up, but with such an overwhelming response, Criswell and the folks at ARBodies.com had a change of heart.  They have decided to also award consolation prizes for the other “podium” finishers of the competition.  MPD runner-up Matt Scott of California and Texas driver JT Schnid.

ARBodies.com contacted Speed51.com in the days after the award was announced to fill us in on the idea.  Second place finisher Scott will receive a $650 discount towards a complete M-package body thanks to his runner-up finish, while Schnid will receive a $500 certificate towards a M-package ABC body.  Both drivers will have 90 days to redeem their certificates.

AR Bodies has become an innovative leader in the ABC body field, which was developed several years ago to help create a uniform set of body rules for Late Model series and tracks throughout the country, while also offering the bodies at an economical price for racers.
