The American Speed Association (ASA) is proud to announce the addition of Marshfield Motor Speedway, in Marshfield, WI, to their ASA Member Track program. Marshfield Motor Speedway is a half-mile paved oval in Central Wisconsin and will have their season opener this Saturday night.
"We are excited to team up with ASA and be a part of their ASA Member Track program," Wayne Brevik, Marshfield Motor Speedway General Manager said. "I had an opportunity to sit down with Dennis Huth at the Daytona RPM Workshop back in February to talk about their program. What they have to offer along with their help and experience in the short track business, can be very beneficial to our track. We look forward to working together with ASA and glad to be a part of their racing family."
Central Wisconsin has become a popular location for creating local short track stars. Famous short track names like Trickle, Reffner, Detjens, Marzofka, Turner and Back are just a few along with current short track stars like Wimmer, Weinkauf, Pettis, Lepak, Sauter, Eswein, Gregorich, Gajewski and more today.
Brevik and his staff work closely with other tracks in Central Wisconsin to help provide the race fans and competitors with the option of visiting or competing at more than one track during the weekend. One of those tracks is State Park Speedway, an ASA Member Track in Wausau, WI.
As part of the ASA Member Track program, Marshfield chose the level that would allow their Super Late Model competitors to compete in the Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oil ASA Member Track National Championship where the National Champion will get a tryout with Joe Gibbs Racing. Also, competitors, crew, and officials who choose to become an ASA Member would be eligible for the Personal Accident Excess coverage of $500,000 along with being covered on their way to the track, while at the track and on their way home from the track through ASA Partner WSIB Motorsports Insurance.
"We are proud to welcome Marshfield Motor Speedway to the ASA Member Track program," Dennis Huth, ASA President said. "Marshfield has hosted two ASA Midwest Tour events and many fans and competitors have told us how much they enjoy the competitive racing that the track provides. We look forward to working with them and wish them well this season."
Marshfield Motor Speedway originally opened as a dirt track in 1977 constructed by Jim Langreck. In 1995, the track transitioned to an asphalt track. The wide progressively banked half-mile oval with sweeping turns hosts a weekly Saturday night program featuring Super Late Models, Super Stocks, and 4-Cylinders. In the Fall of 2007, Dan DeBoer bought the facility and owns it today with Brevik as the General Manager.
The ASA Midwest Tour will also make a visit on Saturday, July 2.
