The first weekend in May is traditionally known for a famous horse race. Many ASA Member Tracks and Series will also be in action with their own version of horsepower and saluting the most popular person in the world...our Mothers.
Here is a look at what is happening this weekend.
ASA IRA OUTLAW SPRINT CAR SERIES
Knoxville Raceway (Knoxville, IA)
The fast 410 Winged Sprints will be in action at the famous Knoxville Raceway this Saturday night. This will be the second event of the season as they were finally able to open their 2011 season last weekend.

ACE SPEEDWAY (Altamahaw, NC)
Celebrate Mother's Day with Ace Speedway for our Mother's Day Special night on Friday, May 6th. All moms will get in the gates for just $5 and will receive special gifts from Ace. Our Mother's Day Special is being sponsored by Trenna's Trinkets (336-226-3575) of Burlington. Admission for other adults will be $12, students and seniors $8 and kids 12 & under free. Gates open at 5:30pm and racing begins at 8pm.
CORPUS CHRISTI SPEEDWAY (Corpus Christi, TX)
A full night of racing is scheduled for this Saturday night. The Dwarf Cars will also be a part of the program. Gates open at 6:00pm with Racing at 8:00pm.
DESOTO SUPER SPEEDWAY (Bradenton, FL)
Desoto returns to action this Saturday night. A full racing program is scheduled with Open Wheel Modifieds, Mini Stocks, Mod Mini's, Flyin 4's, Bombers, Pure Stocks, Trophy Dash Cars, Pro Figure 8's and Magic 4's. Racing gets underway at 7:00pm SHARP!
DILLON MOTOR SPEEDWAY (Dillon, SC)
Dillon Motor Speedway will be closed this coming weekend. Please join us in supporting the Darlington Speedway. Our next race will be Saturday, May 14.
EAST BAY RACEWAY PARK (Tampa, FL)
ASA sanctioned racing returns to East Bay Raceway Park on Saturday, May 7, 2011. The program will include Late Models, east Bay Sprints, Street Stocks, Motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers, Dirt Daubers and Fan Participation. motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers. Gates open at 5:00pm with racing at 6:30pm.
GRAYS HARBOR RACEWAY (Elma, WA)
Two big nights of racing this weekend. On Friday, the ASCS Northwest Sprints & Hornets will be in action. Saturday, the DAA Dirt Late Models, Modifieds, Hobby Stocks, and Hornets will be racing.
HARTFORD MOTOR SPEEDWAY (Hartford, MI)
A fun night is planned for this Friday night. It is Autograph Night & Spectator Races along with a full racing program featuring the UMP Late Models, UMP Modifieds, Stock Cars and Pure Stocks. Main gates open at 6:00pm with Racing at 8:00pm.
HAVASU 95 SPEEDWAY (Lake Havasu City, AZ)
The final event of the 2010-11 season is this Saturday night and it will be a fun night. The Bandoleros will be in action along with a Factory Stock Enduro, 4th Waterless Boat Race and the first ever rollover contest. Gates open at 5pm with Racing at 7pm.
ILLIANA MOTOR SPEEDWAY (Schererville, IN)
A full racing program is scheduled for this Saturday night. All divisions will be in action. Gates open at 4:00pm with racing at 7:00pm.
INDE MOTORSPORTS RANCH (Wilcox, AZ)
Will welcome the National Auto Sport Association Arizona Region on May 7-8.
LEBANON I-44 SPEEDWAY (Lebanon, MO)
The 2011 season opens this Saturday night. The Late Models, Modifieds, Road Warriors, Sportsman, Chargers and Outlaw Mini Stocks will be in action. Gates open at 5:00pm with racing at 7:30pm.
LONESOME PINE RACEWAY (Coeburn, VA)
Will be back in action on Saturday, May 14 with a full racing program.
MERIDIAN SPEEDWAY (Meridian, ID)
The youngest drivers at ASA-sanctioned Meridian Speedway will kick off their season Saturday night when the Jr. Stingers make their debut. The four-cylinder class for ages 13-14 will support the CWI Professional Truck Driving Street Stock 50. The ESI Express ASA Modifieds drivers will continue to jockey for position in the Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oil ASA Member Track National Championship standings with a dual main event night.
The Pepsi Sprintcars and Edmark Mini Stocks also will run. Children too young to race will take to the track in search of their fortunes in the Penny Gold Rush for Kids. Gates open at 4:00pm with racing at 6:30pm.
NEWPORT MOTOR SPEEDWAY (Newport, TN)
Seven divisions will be in action this Saturday night. The Super Late Models, Limited Sportsman, Street Stocks, Front Wheel Drive, Modified 4's, Legends and Mini Cups will be in action. Grandstands open at 4:00pm.
ORANGE SHOW SPEEDWAY (San Bernardino, CA)
Orange Show Speedway will be in action this Saturday. The Super Late Models, Late Models, Factory 4's, Legends and Bandoleros will be in action. Following the racing program, three tribute bands will take to the stage featuring Bon Fire, Fan Halen, and Iron Man. Gates open at 3pm. Adult admission before 5:00pm is $10 and after 5:00pm is $12. Ages 12 and under are FREE. Racing starts at 5:00pm.
RED RIVER SPEEDWAY (Wichita Falls, TX)
Two nights of racing action is scheduled for this weekend on Friday and Saturday nights. The Legends and Bandoleros along with Southern 4-Cylinders will be in action along wit hthe Super Stocks, Thunderstocks, Chargers, and Hornets. Main gate opens at 6:00pm with Races at 8:00pm.
ROCKY MOUNTAIN RACEWAYS (West Valley City, UT)
Their season opener has been rescheduled for this Saturday night. Rocky Mountain Raceways is staring off the season by showing kids the importance of getting A's in school. Racing for A's is a night where children throughout the community are encouraged to bring in their report cards, showing their A's. Every child with an A on their report card will get in free. Rocky Mountain Challenge Series Late Models, Maverik Modifieds, Mini Cups, Ford Focus Midgets, and Pro Race Trucks will hit the America First Credit Union Super Oval for the first race of the season. Gates open at 4:00 pm, qualifying begins at 4:45 pm and racing begins at 6:00 pm. Adult admission is $15.00 and youth admission (5-12) is $5.00.
SKAGIT SPEEDWAY (Burlington, WA)
The ASCS NW Regional Sprint Tour will visit Skagit Speedway for the first time. See the top touring drivers from Canada, Washington, Oregon and California. The Outlaw Hornets will also be on the nights events. Gates open at 5:45, Racing at 7pm.
SOUTHERN OREGON SPEEDWAY (Medford, OR)
The 2011 season will open this weekend with a $1,000 to win Modified Race. It is also Chamber Night at the Races with 360 Sprints, Modifieds, Street Stocks, Super 4's, and Thrill Cars in action. Grandstands open at 4:00pm with Racing at 6:00pm.
VIRGINIA MOTOR SPEEDWAY (Jamaica, VA)
All mothers and grandmothers will get free admission this Saturday night. The Late Models, Limited Stocks, Sportsman and Modifieds will be in action. Gates open at 5:00pm with hot laps starting at 6:30pm.
YAKIMA SPEEDWAY (Yakima, WA)
Yakima Speedway will host the next Saturday Night at the Races May 7th featuring the Yakima Speedway Super Late Models, Northwest Pro 4 Truck Series, H & H Furniture Pure Stocks, CWI Security & EZ Credit Auto Sales Hornets and the Mel's Diner Bump To Pass. Time trials at 5:15pm with racing at 6:00pm.
