Former ASA Star Scott Hansen Returns for Joe Shear Classic
Hansen Getting Back Behind the Wheel at Madison May 1st

- Former ASA National Tour Star, Scott Hansen will get back behind the wheel in the ASA Midwest SCAG Truck Tour "Joe Shear Classic 40" at Madison International Speedway (MIS) on Sunday, May 1st. This will be only the second time in ten years and first time in three years that the ASA National Tour driver has gotten behind the wheel.

The fact that Scott will be racing in the "Joe Shear Classic 40" means a lot to him. He has a lot of memories racing against Shear and credits him with much of his success at various tracks including MIS. "He kicked my butt all the time and at Madison numerous times. In fact the only way I could ever beat Joe Shear was when Joe Shear was not there," added Hansen jokingly.

The main goal of the ASAMTT is to resurrect the Trucks and bring the division up to a level like the Super Late Model program. Having Scott Hansen get behind the wheel shows just where the division is heading. A caliber of new drivers racing the trucks is exactly what the Truck Tour needs.

Veterans like Hansen recognize that the ASAMTT is on the rise as a new, fun and economical way to go racing. "The crate motor and tire program of the ASAMTT makes it an affordable way for drivers to go out and have fun without breaking the bank," said Hansen.

In 2010, Scott Hansen did some commentating for the ASA Midwest Tour's FOX Sports Net broadcasts. ASA Midwest Truck Tour Champion, Jerry Wood and MAC racing's, Mike Carmichael, approached him and told him that anytime he wanted to go racing again, they had an open seat.

"We really have to thank the Wood Brothers and Mike Carmichael for putting this deal together with Scott and we hope that it ends up long term for 2011. The support we are getting from these guys is like no other and we can't thank them enough for helping get the division back on track," said Steve Einhaus, ASAMT VP.
Hansen and his wife have a trucking company that consumes them seven days a week, so racing with the ASAMTT will be a nice break for him. "I just want to run well. I don't expect to go out there and win. Those guys run really hard, but I know Jerry and Mike's equipment is good, so I think we'll do alright."

The ASA Midwest SCAG Truck tour will join the American Speed Association® Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment and GrandStay Hospitality super late models and the ASA Midwest Sunoco Tour this Sunday, May 1st at Madison International Speedway.

Practice begins at 11:30AM, qualifying at 12:45PM and racing at 2:00PM.
