Andrew Morrissey Claims First ASA Midwest Tour Title
Low Budget Racer Makes Consistency Count
Andrew Morrissey took home his first ever American Speed Association® Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment and GrandStay Hospitality season championship this past weekend.

Andrew Morrissey and the Morrissey Racing Team proved that it does not take high dollars to get the job done. Morrissey runs as a low budget team; one that many would not have seen in the hunt for a championship. But the team proved that it could be done.

The one thing that Morrissey wanted to do in 2011 was get that first ASAMT victory. While he never made it to victory lane, he was the most consistent of all drivers in 2011 and it paid off. He did what he had to do to clinch the 2011 ASA Midwest Tour Championship.

Morrissey started his year off with back-to-back podium finishes, finishing third at both Madison International Speedway and Wisconsin International Raceway. It was after those first two races that he started to catch the eyes of his competitors; this guy was the real deal.

In 12 events, Morrissey had three quick qualifier awards, eight top fives and nine top tens. His best finishes came at State Park Speedway and Elko Speedway where he finished in the runner-up position.
This past weekend, Andrew was racing in memory of the loss of two great friends. Unfortunately he was on and off the track throughout the feature event and finished in 20th. But even though he did not get the win he was looking for, Andrew and the entire Morrissey Racing Team could not be happier with their championship.

"This championship means so much to me right now. I can't thank all the guys, my sponsors, everyone with the Tour, and all of the series sponsors enough. I couldn't do any of this without them," said the 2011 champion.
With the momentum Morrissey has going into the 2012 season, he is definitely sure to be contender for another championship and one can be assured that he will still be on the hunt for that first of many victories to come.
Morrissey and his entire team will be honored at the ASA Midwest Tour Championship Banquet in early 2012.
