Futures Super Late Model Event to Open Oktoberfest Weekend
Event Featuring Drivers Under the Age of 30
The event that many race fans mark on their calendar is less than two months away. The 42nd Annual Oktoberfest Race Weekend will take place on October 6-9, 2011 at the La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway in West Salem, WI. For the fourth year, the weekend will kick off with The Futures Super Late Model event on Thursday, October 6.
This special event is open to any driver under the age of 30, the future of short track racing. It is also open to drivers who have never competed in the Oktoberfest 100 signature event, and have never competed in any of NASCAR’s top three series (Cup, Nationwide, and Trucks).
“This is a great opportunity for young super late model drivers to get some extra track time on our 5/8-mile oval,” Chuck Deery, Oktoberfest Race Weekend Promoter said. “This is also a fun way for the fans to see our future stars in this sport compete against each other and help prepare them for the Dick Trickle 99 on Friday and the ASA Midwest Tour on Saturday and Sunday. Fans requested to see Super Late Model racing every night. We started this four years ago and have had a very positive response from the competitors and fans alike.”
Past “Futures” winners include: Paul Paine (2008), Dennis Prunty (2009) and Nick Panitzke (2010).
A full detailed schedule and competitors guide will be available soon and be posted on the Oktoberfest’s official website, www.oktoberfestraceweekend.com.
