Greg Poe is Now at the Helm of Indiana Facility
CRA PR Report
The Angola Motor Speedway is proud to announce that the track has officially been passed on to Greg Poe, the son of long time track owner Dick Poe. Dick passed away on July 17th, 2010 in Angola after long battle with cancer that took him to his final checkered flag last season.

The Angola Motor Speedway has been a showplace over the last decade for all drivers and race fans.  Dick and Jackie Poe poured many hours, dollars and their hearts into the rundown track they once bought at a sheriff’s sale.  As we all know, because of them, it’s one of the nicest short tracks in the country.  Prior to the Poe family ownership the Angola Motor Speedway had been known as the Steuben County Speedway and Lakeview Speedway.

Dick’s son, Greg Poe was born and raised in Angola, Indiana. He currently resides in Fort Wayne with his wife and two kids and he is looking forward to returning back to the Angola community to keep his father’s dream of the Angola Motor Speedway going strong. Greg is currently in talks with Craig Everage the owner of Everage Auto and Everage Motor Sports who has held the lease on the track in three of the last four seasons about leasing the track again for the 2011 season.

The Everage Motor Sports team has brought record car counts and crowds over the last few seasons to the Angola Motor Speedway. The Everage Motor Sports team has released a tentative schedule for the 2011 season that again will be highlighted by the biggest Super Late Model races in Midwest, the “Stan Perry” Memorial, The HOSS Sprints “King of Green”, and the return of three day show the “Stock Car Nationals”. Also this year, the biggest show of the season will be the Richard Poe Memorial Race over the 4th of July weekend.

“I’m looking forward to providing the best entertainment in Steuben County again this summer,” stated, Craig Everage, Everage Motor Sports owner. “We are currently looking to finish the lease agreement for the 2011 season then making the final changes to the schedule for this season.”

The Angola Motor Speedway will be participating in the 3rd Annual Bad Boys of Charity Go Kart race at Rapid Raceway this Saturday at 12:00pm. This will be your chance to do some bench racing and come out and talk to your favorite drivers as the South Bend Motor Speedway, New Paris Speedway, and M-40 Speedway will all have teams there raising money for the Giving Kids Hope Program. The Everage Motor Sports team is the defending champions of the event.

The Angola Motor Speedway is located in Fremont, Indiana and is owned by Greg Poe. The historic track has hosted NASCAR Stars, Super Modifieds, Sprint Cars, and is known as being the best Super Late Model track in the Midwest.
